Yesterday I decided to wipe partition cache and when the battery was around 7% remaining I switched off my Zenfone5 and did a partition cache wipe from recovery ( try this when battery is at 10% or so to be safe). It took sometime to wipe it so be patient. ( Read FAQs in the comments in the pinned post about partition cache wipe process, it will not delete any data )
When I restarted , the battery meter showed 30%. So I realized that these errors have been caused by caching errors after firmware updates.
So I switched off again and charged in switched off mode till led was green and restarted with the charger still connected. Disconnected charger after boot to lock/home screen
After disconnecting charger I tested battery drain and it was still draining quite fast and so once it drained till 94% I switched off and did the partition cache wipe again ( this time it was quick) and selected reboot. Then when it rebooted I forced shut it by pressing and holding power + Volume up for few seconds . I put it back on charging till led became green in switched off mode and then with charger still connected switched it on and after full boot up disconnected the charger. ( disconnect charger only after boot up to lock/home screen). Since then I am getting better battery backup and steady drain pattern instead of random.
Check screenshot. When I last checked it was 99% and after 3 hours with WiFi still on and FB notifications and WhatsApp notifications it's dropped to 96%. My Power saving is in optimized mode.
Somehow I think this process has cleared lot of junk in the system and seems to have activated the deep sleep mode in Intel CPU for battery savings.
Battery standby is just awesome when screen is not on and I also saw battery drain is lesser during usage.
Don't drain battery below 2% and it's good to charge when battery reaches 15% for healthy battery.
Keeping smart mode in Audio wizard saves battery.
***These steps are experimental so empirical data will prove effectiveness, if you do not deviate from it so that the desired result is not altered.
